The common definition of a 360 degree appraisal is a process of gathering information about an individual from a variety of sources. This information is then fed back to the individual to help promote continuous improvement and development.

360 degree review

The process is designed to be a positive experience enabling those participating to understand how they are performing from a number of perspectives including their manager.

This 360-degree approach can be used as a basis for discussion as part of the normal performance review or annual appraisal meeting.

There is strong evidence that externally managed 360s are more trusted than those managed internally.

The responses will be fed back via DART to the appraiser only as average scores with anonymous comments. Neither appraisee nor appraiser will have any way of knowing who has given the feedback.
