Face to face meetings are more effective.
16-February-2012
In 1964 Albert Mehrabian stated that 55% of human communication was non-verbal (body language) with the remaining 45% made up of verbal comms. This 45% was sub divided into 7% for the words we use and 38% for the tone of voice.

Even our own experience will bear this out, eg when we have to deliver a particularly sensitive message, we try to do this face to face and that is because we can judge our next responses to their reactions rather than their words.

On the phone we lose 55% available communication but that is better than just using emails (7% available comms).

Video conferencing has been available for years and Skype is free, but the 55% factor is why people still meet face to face.
